Poltics and the War on Terror

Jesus - the Bush whitehouse seems to believe that it's the only one qualified to truly fight the war on terrorism... and yet, to counter domestic criticism, they will blow the sting operation of another intelligence service. Of course, the war on terror was always going to be a propaganda device - if the West was serious about it we'd have to be taking action against regimes in which we have a vested interest... but even so, within the narrow parameters within which the 'war' is being conducted, it's hard to see how this kind of political cop-out is conducive to a genuine desire to protect against terrorism.
